Art for social impact

If you want to be inspired and meet innovative businesses, look for B corporations.

B Corp, as they are known, are a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. They are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. This is a community of leaders, driving a global movement of people using business as a force for good.

The Skateroom is a good example of how innovative these companies are. Based in Brussels, Belgium the company unites art buyers, artists, galleries, museums, foundations, retailers, and non-profits around the world in a new economic model — « Art for Social Impact ».

To reach their objective of generating social impact, they developed a very simple business model: “5:25”. They unleash human creativity and the fruits of artistic labor to donate 5% of the turnover or 25% of the profit from every sale– whichever number is greater.

More than $700.000 were already granted to benefit 34 social skate projects dedicated to empowering at-risk youth around the world.

Artists such as Vik Muniz, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Basquiat
stamp the collections that are for sale on the project website.
