“Digital nomadism is not for me”, but this book is also for you.

What I learned with a nomad about the virtual products and digital entrepreneurship.

If you’re one of those people that do not see yourself away from your family, or from home for a long period of time, like to travel only on vacations (yes, nomads, these people exist), but feel homesick, you’d probably not see a book on digital nomadism on the shelf of a bookstore or virtual store of your e-reader.

I belong in such group of “home” people, but my curiosity drove me to read the book “Digital Nomad: a guide for you to live and work wherever and whenever you want”, by Matheus de Souza, that discusses a life style far away from my longings.

Fortunately, because I found a good text and a set of tips and insights for those who love to stay away from home, works well in a home office and need to rethink their concepts of modes of work.

To begin, a nomad makes his/her living on remote work

The essence of a digital nomad is to get to work remotely while traveling and knowing amazing places. The background is to set a business model and a work style in which your physical presence is not indispensable to carry out your activities.

And, to me, that was the big surprise of the book. For nomads, people who prefer a more fixed life style, people seeking for extra income, people that are temporarily out of the market for any reason, there is a world of possibilities to make money by using virtual tools and products and the book meets all these profiles.

And as I had had a traditional job for years, I knew a little of such universe. Although I consumed many digital services, I had no idea how an ordinary person could set his/her business with what technology makes at our disposal.

What is the business model

You might find a little odd that I’m surprised with solutions that use technology for making money. Actually, making money with technology is not new and examples abound out there. However, Matheus explains in details how people get paid and give examples of several digital products in our reach with little investment, in addition to platforms that hire freelancers and several tools to set and develop your digital business.

I won’t repeat or list the hints because this is one of the most relevant content of the book.

And if you’re familiar with the technology and is an autodidact, the journey gets easier and the cost lower.

Personal Marketing

Further, the book is also about personal marketing. It’s about how to build your brand and become an authority in certain subject, turning this power of influence into business.

By reporting his steps in the journey, the author draws attention of the most absent-minded people and encourages those that are already walking a similar path to organize themselves for the development of their personal brand.

If I’d waited to know who I was or what I was about before I started “being creative”, well, I’d still be sitting around trying to figure myself out instead of making things.
